Get Ready for Maine Festival of the Book


The Maine Festival of the Book 2012 will be held March 29-April 1 in Portland, with a full day of free literary programming for all ages at the Abromson Center at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, March 31. More than 75 authors, artists and performers with programs designed for all ages and interests. With the exception of Opening Night, events are free and unticketed.

Festival 2011 was a great success with more than 2000 attendees. In its five years of existence, the Maine Festival of the Book has featured more than 200 authors, including five Pulitzer Prize winners and two National Book Award winners.

The Maine Festival of the Book is held annually in April in Portland. Past presenters include David McCullough, Richard Ford, David Baldacci, Tess Gerritsen, Crystal Zevon, Wes McNair, Brian Wood, Jane Brox, Maxine Kumin, Anita Shreve, Stewart O'Nan, Julia Glass, Paul Harding, and Elizabeth Strout.

Learn more about Read With ME., a state-wide literacy outreach program that brings books to every kindergartener in Maine. This year's featured Read With ME. book is The Very Best Bed written and illustrated by Rebekah Raye of Blue Hill, Maine.
